Friday

We had a foggy morning walk around Lake Saundra.

Beautiful sunrise

I got to work after our walk on repairing a broken sprinkler. It's the only one that was damaged since I fixed the ones the roofers broke last week. I've tripped on this one myself, many times.

Step one is always to dig it up and see if you can salvage any of the parts.

I made a list for Ace Hardware of parts needed. While I was there, I picked up a new nozzle for our new hose, more spackle to finish repairing the east wall damage, and more mulch.

I put mulch down in this bed to keep mud from splashing on the new paint. The ground is partly cement, partly dirt.

I added more spackle before repairing the sprinkler. I wanted the spackle to dry as quickly as possible so that I could add a couple of layers today to the worst parts.

This is the worst corner, but it's looking better.

This second worst is coming along slowly. The missing wall required many layers.

It's getting better.

This one needed a little more.

The one looks great.

After that, I gathered my tools for the sprinkler project.

I cut out the old pipes and planned a new design that would reduce the tripping hazard and lower the height of the sprinkler head.

Then I cemented it all together. I'm waiting for it to harden before testing it.

I applied more spackling. This one's ready for primer.

This one is ready too.

I added more texture to these two joints to better disguise them.

I added a bit more texture to this one too. I think it's ready for primer.

After lunch, I cut in Swiss Chalet on the east side: top, bottom, around 4 light fixtures, 2 doors, sliders, a spigot, an electrical outlet, many feet of conduit, and 6 windows.

It's hard to see now.

But it will make rolling very easy tomorrow.

There's really not that much to roll.

Before dinner, I tested the rebuilt sprinkler. No leaks.

The new sprinkler is now right-sized.

While I was at it, I adjusted two nearby sprinklers, one to keep the water off the low wall and the other one to limit the range of water so that it doesn't water our neighbors' lawn.
