Tuesday

I inspected the roof before the project manager came to meet with us. The gutters have never been cleaner.

He agreed that the 4 corners needed some more work to keep critters out. He said he would do it himself. He says he usually does the cosmetic work at the very end and is pretty good at it. He'll paint the vent stacks and cover them. He'll bring some spare paint and a paint pen. He'll also clean some gunk on the skirt leftover from the workers. It was oil-based, so I was unable to wash it off. He says he has the cleaner and will take care of it.

I put down some mulch to keep the dirt from splashing on the walls. The picture above is before.

This is after. I still need to attach the hose reel.

Mulch all the way down the north side.

I pressure washed the east side.

Then I started scraping loose paint, mostly along the bottom.

It gets worse before it gets better. I put Ospho on the exposed metal so that I can prime it tomorrow. It stops the rusting process through some sort of chemical reaction. I'll also need to caulk between the house and sidewalk.

The slider and the bathroom door openings rusted out at the corners on the bottom.

There are metal joints in the sunroom wall that were rusting and the paint was bubbling. I scraped and treated it.

Another rusted joint.

I picked up more paint, primer, a hose, mulch, and Quickrete for the mailbox post (we ordered the mailbox online, not yet arrived) from Ace.

New mulch

New hose. The old one was so permanently twisted that water would barely come out of it.

John put out our Christmas Trees for the golf cart parade tonight. I'll get another shot after dark along with some parade photos.
