The most critical project was a broken sprinkler riser. Apparently, the lawn care folks lopped it off when trimming the fern hedge along the fence. I can't really blame them. They're hard to see and I might have done it myself. So, I had to tackle yet another sprinkler repair of an entirely different variety. This one involved purple pipe primer and cement and a lot of separate pipe fittings.
Home Depot was enforcing social distance by allowing a limited number of shoppers in the store at one time. The line was long, and, of course, I had to wait in it twice because you never get everything you need on the first trip, not even in a pandemic. I put on my mask and moved along in the cue.
After the repair.
After the clean up. We'll see Monday how well I did.
On my first trip out, I went to Ace Hardware, hoping I could find everything there. It's closer and easier to navigate--both inside and outside. I got 5 bags of pine bark nuggets and some sprinkler parts. Later, at Home Depot, I picked up a rake and shovel, more sprinkler parts, and a yard waste bin. I cleaned out the bed above and put down the nuggets.
I had put off buying a rake thinking I could just pick up the leaves. One neighbor pointed out that they made a tool for that--a rake, and that I should consider getting one. Since I was already masked up, I decided to give in. I must admit the task did go quicker with less back ache. I don't know where I get my hardheadedness from.I took a quick ride down the Pinellas Trail to the Marina, portions blocked due to COVID-19. Incidentally, did you know that it is named 19 because it was discovered in 2019? It's kind of obvious. Maybe I'm the last person to know that? I thought it was the number of the strain. Oh, well.
Fish bone cross walk. 77 degrees.
