Beach Talk

We got back to walking today. It was 75 degrees this morning with light winds. There were lots of beautiful clouds. This is a view just before Marker One Marina, on the bridge that connects from the mainland to Ward Island on the west end of the causeway. We talked about major purchases and projects on our walk.

We talked about the pros and cons of an e-bike for me and decided before buying the one I found online to take a look at what Kafe Racer had to offer. So after our morning walk and before lunch, we headed out by bike to downtown. Kafe had several bikes like John's and others from the same manufacturer, but I wanted a different design that's less intrusive. But it was good to look and compare. I'll be able to save $750 by going a different route and ordering online.

So, we had lunch and then I did some more research. John suggested that I look for a youtube video of how to assemble a Buzz bike to see how complicated it would be. And I found one! It was very detailed--about 30 minutes long. The bike ships to your door in a box, mostly assembled. You just have to attached some wires, pedals, fender, front wheel, and handle bars. It looked pretty simple.

So I ordered it. It should be here between May 29-June 3. I may need to swap out a few components to make it more comfortable, according to one reviewer. If I add an adjustable handle bar stem and seat suspension, the reviewer said it would be a great cruiser.  Sitting upright will help me to avoid neck pain from having to lean forward while looking up as I now do on my current bike. (It's the same neck position as installing an overhead light fixture!) The extra suspension should help me from getting jarred on bumps. This will be my retirement bike, designed to protect my aging body.

Afterwards, we decided to head back out to the beach, just to be able to walk and put our feet in the gulf. It was 80 degrees with winds blowing 10-12 mph.

We walked 18 miles today and biked 18. Tomorrow I might tackle spray painting the TV console.

My boss says that if my 3rd British literature course doesn't fill by tomorrow, they'll have to cancel it, and I'll have to teach another composition course. It needs just one more student to avoid being cut!
