Love is Love

One of our neighbors recently put up this sign. Kind of basic things, don't you think?

We took our bikes out to Honeymoon Island to celebrate the end of the semester, the end of the hiring project, and the almost end of my teaching career. We went to North Beach and walked along the nearly deserted and natural beach towards the northern tip of the island. We couldn't make it all the way because we needed to check on Dee Dee. But we walked for about an hour. It was mostly sunny and 72 degrees. Absolutely beautiful.
This is a "shell tree" that people have decorated with shells and sponges.
I saw an octopus image in this tree root.
Clearwater Beach is 5 miles south of here, but the water here is also clear.

I could have sat here for hours.
This fisherman had two dolphins wanting to play with him or the fish he had caught. They kept swimming round and round. After about 10 minutes they swam off.

This picture is from the North Beach restrooms. You can see Clearwater Beach in the distance. The picture below is from the same location looking north towards Cedar Key (not in the picture).

A couple of weeks ago, we saw a fire on the Island from the mainland. This was back during the restrictive lock down when access was forbidden by the governor. Today, we learned what the fire was about. It's the way they manage the growth to protect wildlife and plants.
The results are not very attractive, but apparently the burns are essential for healthy management of the island.
Here's the last Little Library for my collection. It's the last of 14. I was waiting until the island opened so I could get this last picture.

We went back out to the island to walk in the water before Dee Dee's 4:00 appointment. It was 86 degrees and 10 mile per hour winds. We rode 22 miles total and walked about 11.

Dee Dee got another x-ray and some refills. The doctor said she still had lots of fluid around her lungs, but that he could begin to see some shapes of her internal organs. He recommended that we continue to assume we are on the right path with the diuretic and heart medicine. He said that we could do an ultrasound but that it would only tell us she had something like a tumor that we wouldn't be able to treat. He did say that now that she's losing the water, she needs to gain some weight. He said let her eat all that she wants. All we could think about was the time she got into the kitchen garbage when we first got her. We were out for several hours and came home to a mostly empty garbage can and a Dee Dee that was a wide as she was long. She had eaten her fill . . . and it wasn't pretty.

Here are a few sunset pictures from Weaver Park.
