We took Dee Dee for an early morning causeway walk. Her doctor yesterday took another x-ray and said the fluid build up was as bad as the first x-ray back in May. He said we could do an ultrasound, but that if we found a tumor, there would not be anything to do. Same for discovering that she has an enlarged heart. He's not going to do open heart surgery, like you would on a human with her condition. All he could offer was to drain the fluid with a needle inserted between her ribs, but he said the fluid would likely return. Therefore, he suggested that we do nothing but continue with the current medications and see what happens. The medicines could help reduce the fluid build up over time or they could be holding her steady. Either way, she's not in imminent danger and she's eating and resting comfortably, but we've run out of quick options to reduce the fluid build up. And the meds are keeping the edemas from returning under her throat. Those were life threatening.
It was raining when we got to the beach with Dee Dee, so we sat in the car and watched it rain.
The birds were taking baths in the parking lot. Eventually we were able to walk Dee Dee.
Later in the morning, we headed back out to the beach on our bikes to
try out my new bike adjustments. Much better! Now, I need to get used to
the seat or think about replacing it. Rain was moving in over the horizon. We bolted for shelter as the rain began pelting us.
We hid out under the Main Beach building and waited for it to pass. Eventually, the rain slackened enough for us to ride home for lunch. We met a woman and her son's girlfriend hiding out under the building. They were both celebrating their birthdays.
It was a day made for ducks.
