Sunday

Thanks to her diuretics and increased feeding, Dee Dee woke us up at 11:00 p.m., 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m., the final time for a walk and a poo. We have been following the doctor's orders to feed her as much as she will eat, so when she's hungry we keep plying her with food. Before, we would stop at 1/2 a can and feed her again later, thinking that she'd be more comfortable if her belly wasn't so full all at one time. With her chest full of fluids, there's not much room for her stomach. Therefore, one of the consequences of more food is more poo, and not always at convenient times. We tried three different spots last night, but she wouldn't go before bedtime, hence the 2:00 duty call.

She is putting on weight though, and that's good. She ate two cans again today, and we got an earlier start, so maybe we'll get lucky tonight. The thing about Dee Dee is that when she eats, she eats, and then she's done. So eating twice a day seems to be working better than breaking her meals up into three or four times a day. Maybe it's just habit because she used to always eat twice a day.

After her 6:30 a.m. walk, we took a walk ourselves to Weaver Park. We did the whole trip on foot, about 7 miles. We chose the Pinellas Trail because it's a holiday weekend and the causeway is crowded. Plus, there's shade on most of the trail in the mornings.

We walked out to the end of the pier, once we got to Weaver Park. The temperature was 82 to 85 degrees during the walk and the wind was blowing at 7 to 9 mph, a beautiful day.

It was clear enough to see the hotels on Clearwater beach (south).

And the Dunedin causeway in the other direction (north).

This is a shot of the morning sun, looking east, back to the mainland.

About the time we got home, it started raining.

It rained again a little bit later, cooling things down to 82 degrees.

Once the storm passed through, we headed to Honeymoon Island, knowing that the rain had thinned the crowds.

Not a bad day at all.

9 miles walking
11.79 miles biking
