I took Dee Dee out to pee in the middle of the night. I looked over at the opened front door while walking out and noticed a huge Buffo frog on the window pane of the door. They are tan colored and poisonous to dogs. They are a non-native species.
I had to open the door to get back inside, but that would put the frog positioned inside the house if he decided to jump . . . and right in front of Dee Dee. Somehow we managed to make it inside and keep the frog on the door’s glass pane.
So, when I woke up at 5:30, I took Dee Dee out to pee as usual, but I checked all the window panes first. No frog in sight. We proceeded out the door and I turned to grab the door handle to close the door, and the damn frog was sitting on the handle! I touched wet, cold frog-flesh. I screamed and John came running expecting to see a front yard full of coyotes.
John used a leaf to try and dislodge the frog from the handle, but he nestled under the latch, the thing we had to press to get back inside!
Eventually we managed to get the frog to move without Dee Dee eating him or having to touch him.
Not a good thing to deal with at 5:30 in the morning.
This shot is from this morning’s early Dee Dee walk on Honeymoon Island.
