Avoiding the weekend crowds, we headed north on the Pinellas Trail for our morning walk. The temperature was in the low 80s. The challenge of the northern route is that there are fewer public restrooms and they're really far away. From our exploration, we knew there was one at Pop Stansell Park in Palm Harbor, just a block off of the trail and on the sound. Google Maps told us it was over 4 miles from our house. We've done 8+ mile walks before, but not without a restroom in between. So, we decided to take the car to Stirling Park and park and walk. That reduced the round trip walk to something a little over 6.5 miles, which is our usual distance.
The bridge over Alt 19 at the edge of Dunedin provides some scenic views.
The park was busy with kayakers launching their boats. No one was socially distancing. We used the facilities and headed back home.
We had time before lunch to take Dee Dee to the Fine Arts Center for a walk. We got a chance to hear the Dunedin High School drum corp and . . .
Bagpipe players.
On a spur of the spur, we found this overlook into the waterway.
The water was clear and flowing.
On the way back home, John suggested we take this shortcut to the sponge docks to take a look. We did. It's still way too crowded. We turned around at the edge and made a note that that was the second time. I told John that the sponge docks were off limits until the next pandemic when the streets will be cleared.
Dee Dee continues to amaze us. Her doctor will have some test results on Monday.
