Thursday

After taking a few days off from walking the entire causeway, we were back today. We took Dee Dee for an early morning island walk and then dropped her off and took ourselves on a long walk. A man from our neighborhood stopped us on the bridge to ask if we lived in Fairway Estates because he sees us walking and riding our bikes a lot. He lives on Palm Blvd. Then we had our across the street neighbor to honk as he went by us on our walk tonight. It's not easy feeling a sense of community in the midst of a pandemic, but we're making headway.

I came home and worked on my Exit Interview, 16 pages! About half of the pages, I don't even understand what they are about. I'm going to complete them to the best of my ability and send them back to HR. The form is clearly designed to be completed on campus. I'm supposed to hand deliver the checklist to my supervisor, IT, the library, security, and HR for the responsible people to verify (and sign off) that I have surrendered all school property, passwords, devices, books, etc. (It's a one-page single spaced list of items.) I was instructed to fill it out and return it to HR, so that's what I'm going to do.

I also worked on my special project and will work on it some more tonight.

And I signed us up for car insurance. It's more than double what is was in NC. We have the option of signing up for an app for our phone that would allow us to save 3% on our renewal in 6 months. If we don't drive over 80, don't have too many panic stops, don't drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., don't have jack-rabbit starts, don't drive over 11,000 miles a year, then we have the potential to save up to 25% on our next policy at renewal. I did research and most people liked it because of the savings, but some found it to be unfair (panic braking for squirrels, deer, children, etc. lowers your score). The key is that there's no penalty if you do all those things and have a bad score. It's a little creepy, but one husband says he loves it because it has changed his driving habits and his wife no longer complains about his driving. I'm going to do some more research.

The important thing is that we needed a Florida car insurance policy to get our driver's license and to switch our tags and register our car. With this policy, we are ready for our Sept. appointment at the DMV.

I caught the sun set last night in this small opening in the trees looking out over the Dunedin Golf Course.

And then I caught the sunrise this morning on Fairway Drive.

The beautiful Gulf of Mexico and Honeymoon Island.

Dee Dee had a better day today. She wasn't as bloated, and she ate more, not a lot, but she ate. She seemed happier (more engaged and eager to go for car rides and walks), and she went to the bathroom twice. She took her meds this morning and evening without much fuss. She also slept through the night for the first time in a long time, even though she's on a diuretic.

Miles walked: 6.6
