Toby got us up at 4:15 again, ready to play. We took two naps today and we're still exhausted. Can't wait for bed time. We weighed him again, still 37 pounds.
After lunch we took him in his bike trailer to the Dunedin Community center for a walk. We ran into bagpipe rehearsal again. Toby was not amused. We came home and did research to find out if dogs and bagpipes are compatible. The research was inconclusive with most folks saying it depends on the dog. Dogs have greater hearing sensitivity, so I can see how the shrill notes might be painful. Living in Dunedin (Gaelic for Edinburgh), he might need to become accustomed to it.
We were too lazy to switch the trailer to my bike. He was a bit fussy. It will be interesting to see if he settles down when being towed behind my bike.

This morning we drove to Wall Springs Park where Toby had the most robust dog play yet. This one-year old mutt was about the same size as Toby, so they were well matched. Toby immediately went on his back belly up, the universal sign of submissiveness. None of our previous dogs ever practiced that move with a dog.

A third dog, a miniature poodle wanted to join in, but decided to just look on. I think Layla and the poodle were friends, but Toby proved too interesting.
They gnawed on each other and slobbered on each other until we needed to go home. Interestingly, neither dog was vocal, no growling which is common when playing. Also, when we called Toby to quit, he popped up and walked away calmly. No lunging or pulling to re-engage.
It was a beautiful morning at the park.

Love that Toby.
