Friday

We went for a walk on the causeway this morning to get away from the depressing news. We left Toby loose in the house, closing the bedroom doors and the laundry room pocket door. We didn’t want him to hurt himself trying to free himself from his crate. Besides, he had proven that he could be trusted roaming free in the main part of the house.

Well, we came home and opened the garage door with the opener and out pops Toby as we turn into the driveway. John and I looked at each other and said. “What the hell?”

Toby had found a way to slide the door open to the laundry room and then open the door in the laundry room to the garage.

Amazing!

That’s all I’ve got to report from our day. The rest of it was spent listening and reading the news.

I am angry that Republicans have enabled this deranged president to nearly destroy our democracy, but I am not surprised. They have been undermining democracy and its institutions for decades, long before this president came along. They thought they could accommodate the crazies, but the party has been overtaken by a would-be authoritarian and his followers.

It’s time for the Republicans with a conscience and good will who believe in the good that government can do to form a new party. Let the crazies have the Trump party. All the crazies want to do is destroy things. It’s time to call them what they are: terrorists. We need a new Conservative party to hold the Democratic leaders accountable.

The Republican Party has lost all credibility and will never be able to overcome this treachery.

  1. Toby is hilarious. Thank him for making me laugh. I can just imagine how shocked you and John must have been when he met you in the garage. Tuned to the news quite a bit today.

  2. You speak truth. If more Republicans like Mitt Romney would stand up for the party, there may be a chance but Trump has got to go!

On a happy note, I love your Toby stories. Does he have digits instead of paws?
