Azaleas blooming in January? Amazing.
Despite the beautiful blooms, the weather has been decidedly dreary today. No sunshine. The temperature got up to 61 this morning but has been sliding downward all day.
Tomorrow looks to be an official winter day with rain and a high of 59 degrees.
We bundled up and walked several times today. We could smell the wood burning fireplaces. Folks down here think nothing of putting on a fire with temperatures in the 50s.
There were very few people on the trail. We rode on the bikes with Toby once in the neighborhood, but he was not happy about it. He kept trying to climb on the bike with John. I think Toby was cold and just wanted to go home.
To perk up our spirits, we got take out from The Happy Cactus in the causeway shopping center (in the old Benedict’s space). It was just our third meal prepared outside of our house during the last 10 months. We really appreciated eating food we did not have to prepare or clean up afterwards.
One important downside to a lazy day spent in the house is that Toby did not get much exercise. So I loaded up his new chew bone with kibble, which will give us all about 6 minutes of peace. Then it's off to the races again!
It looks like a few Republicans have finally found the line they would not cross in their steadfast loyalty to the president. Pitiful that it had to be a violent attempt to overthrow democracy and at the risk of them being hostages or killed by a mob inspired by a narcissistic president spewing lies. There are no profiles in courage among them. Anyone could see this tragedy coming and yet they chose to aid and abet him. I hope it's not too late.

I love those people who want a fire even when it is only 50 degrees. In NC living with the engineer that is the only time a fire is permissible. Jeff had work today so I took Mike to his semi annual dr’s visit. I loved her. She made him pinky swear that he would drink more water to counter his dizziness and no bourbon and water at noon doesn’t count. He is healthy as a horse otherwise.
