After our early morning neighborhood walk, we put Toby in his crate and headed for the causeway for a longer walk. It's about a 4-mile walk from the drawbridge to the entrance to Honeymoon Island State Park and back. Toby did well in his crate. I think we all suffer from separation anxiety. We know it's good for him to be alone, but we miss having him with us.
It was 66 degrees at 9:00 a.m., eventually getting to 77 in the afternoon. This morning the skies were hazy. You couldn't see the Clearwater skyline at all and you could barely make out the pier in downtown Dunedin, only a couple of miles away.
It was a good walk, breathing in the sea air.
The clouds finally dissipated in the afternoon.
Our neighbors down the street found their lost 9 year-old cat after three days. It was a de-clawed indoor cat, and we were fearing the worst. They blanketed the neighborhood with flyers and door-to-door knocking and social media posts. A man a few blocks away found it, making a little girl very happy.
We got an ink cartridge for our ancient printer, and after some troubleshooting, got it working again. I was able to print documents for our upcoming H&R visit.
We tried another Chinese take-out restaurant. Since the portions are so large, we shared a home style bean curd and vegetable dinner. It was good, but not any better than the one in the Causeway Plaza, which is much closer. I'm reminded of the folks in Key West who rarely leave Old Town to go to the other side of the island because it's too far (on a 4 x 2 mile island). Tonight's restaurant was 2.5 miles away!
The obligatory Toby shot. He's sleeping next to me as I type. Such a good dog.
Last night, just as we were about to drift off to sleep, Toby let out a 6-second song in his sleep, one note, sustained. It was so beautiful. Then silence. We'd like to think he was calling for us in his dream because the only other time we've heard him sing is on zoom when we are away and he's home alone.

We walked for an hour at the Mebane Arts Center this morning. Lori/Bob were there too. Still cold here but at least the sun came out a little. PAULA just brought us spaghetti sauce. She is an extremely thoughtful neighbor. We get our second Covid vaccine shot tomorrow.
