Tuesday

Our neighbor decorated her new great white egret mailbox for mardi graw, beads and all. Yesterday, she had it decorated in a top hat and beard for Presidents' Day. She has affixed tube lighting to highlight the outline at night.

The day started off in the lower 60s and topped out at 63 degrees. It was mostly cloudy, but there were a few patches of blue sky here and there. It rained like crazy over night for 20-30 minutes.

 We stuck close to home due to John's colonoscopy prep, taking several short walks in the neighborhood. Likewise, meals have been kept simple since I'm cooking for one. I'm doing a good job of clearing out the refrigerator! I had a bowl of oatmeal and raisins for dinner. John had jello and Miralax. Poor guy. 

Toby's had a boring day, but he's been well behaved. I played fetch on the lanai, and that made him happy and got him through his afternoon puppy mania.

 

 

We counted at least nine other valentines that Yuki gave out to her favorites, scattered around the neighborhood.

 

Toby also got to meet a new dog today, an 8-month old bird dog mix who was a little bit bigger than Toby. Yesterday, he got to meet a 9-year old little dog. It continues to amaze us that he gets along with any dog who is also friendly. With our previous dogs, we were always the ones hiding behind parked cars, bushes, turning around, etc. when we encountered another dog.

On one walk today, he was sniffing a mailbox, as dogs do, and all of the sudden he wanted to go home, immediately, ears tucked and tail tucked. He was inconsolable. He wouldn't make eye contact or take a treat or heed any command. He hasn't done that since he was a scared little puppy. Not sure what triggered him. John said a coyote must have left him a threatening message at the mail box post.
