Wednesday

Tonight's blog is in reverse order of how we experienced the day.

John spotted this bird in a tree at Lake Saundra on our last walk of the day.

This is my version. I used my zoom lens while John got up close.
I can't quite figure out what the picture looks like, sort of like an oil painting of some exotic, tropical watering hole.

But it's just Lake Saundra during the golden hour before sunset.

John also spotted this fern (and took the picture) growing in the crook of an oak beside the lake.

John spotted the blooms on this royal palm.

I zoomed in to get a better shot. They almost look like sea anemone.

For dinner, we loaded Toby in the car and headed to Publix to get a sub, a "pub sub," and headed to Honeymoon Island beach to eat at the picnic tables.

We had just enough shade.

John calls it a turkey salad on a bun.

After dinner, we took Toby to the dog beach. He was so excited.

He got in the water on his own for the first time.

We timed it just right for low tide so that the incoming waves didn't frighten him and there was plenty of shallow water to run and play in.

He had a blast and John got a workout holding the leash.

I gave him a little break.

 Hello Gulf of Mexico

He was completely covered in sand and got a much needed bath when we got home.

He spotted a new friend and coaxed him down to play.

Who could resist Toby's invitation?

He loved this 7-month old puppy.

He met lots of new friends.

Mid afternoon, we rode our bikes down to Stevenson Creek. This time we rode downtown and cut over to Edgewater Park and rode to the creek, then cut back and rode the trail back towards town.

On the way back home, I stopped and exercised at the gym while John rode on home to tend to Toby.

This is the picture of the day! John was reading in bed when Toby jumped up and fell back on the pillow. John opened his camera and took this selfie. Simply adorable.

Immediately after lunch, we ran some errands, including a trip to the pet store. While we were out, we stopped at the community center for Toby to get some exercise.

The weather today was perfect. It was 72 degrees on our first walk and 82 at the hottest part of the day. The wind blew 7-9 mph most of the day.

Lunch was the usual turkey, but with Havarti instead of Swiss. My fruit bowl (and veggie) had peach yogurt, cottage cheese, mandarin oranges, broccoli, and blueberries. Drizzled on top was a raspberry vinaigrette. The sweet and sour combination was yummy. John had just veggies and cottage cheese and half of a sandwich because of his diet. 😢

Our morning causeway walk was nice.

We got stopped by the drawbridge. I always enjoy the rest stop.

The ride to the causeway is my favorite part. The walking is more work.

Last night I sat in our new chairs and watched the sunset.

Today’s bike routes to the causeway, Stevenson Creek, and Weaver Park

Miles walked: 8.6
Miles biked: 15.55
