Friday

After we walked Toby this morning, we put him in his crate and drove to the Apple store in Tampa to get a new computer and get cash for our old one. The best part of the trip was crossing Tampa Bay on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. It’s a much longer version (9 miles) of the Dunedin Causeway. There’s a walkway and bikeway off to the side in a park-like setting. The views are amazing. Someday, we’d like to ride it on our bikes. Our neighbors just bought a Pacifica so they could tote their three wheeler bikes to places like this.

We opted to go shopping instead of walking because of the heat (5 mph wind) and the threat of rain.

After placing our order at Apple, we spent the rest of the day in the neighborhood. We went to Lake Saundra to see the wildlife.

We sat on a bench, and in two or three minutes we had a squirrel and a duck coming up to us begging for food.

We had heard there was a three foot long alligator in the lake, the first gator in Lake Saundra in 17 years. Someone captured him on video and posted in the Neighborhood app.

We didn’t see him on our visit.

He or she (the gator) made a good choice. It’s a beautiful lake and there are plenty of food sources. The state of Florida won’t remove a small gator. They must be over four feet and causing problems. It’s a felony to harass one.

This smart bunny decided to hang out at our house where the only thing he has to fear is Toby off leash. He’s too clumsy to be much of a threat.

Today was yard day and lawn treatment day. This is the before picture.

And this is the after picture. Mr. Walker reports that we have grubs again in the backyard, so he’ll be back Tuesday with a different treatment. I’m so glad that I’m not responsible for all those decisions and labor.

Speaking of wildlife, Toby is hanging out with me as I finish up this blog. He’s been watching me vacuum and mop and now this. He must be amused by how I spend my time when there’s so much playing to be done.

The new computer will be shipped to our house in about a month. We decided on the silver color instead of the more colorful green, yellow, blue, red, or purple one. We thought we might get tired of the color after awhile. Silver is classic and always in style. Our old computer was 8 years old! The check-in guy laughed when he saw the box. He said he’s seen 10 year old models. He was probably in 3rd grade when those came out.

Miles walked: 6.6
Miles biked: 0

  1. Alligatorssssss? Just read where a whale swallowed a man whole and them spit him out. Whoa! Your yard looks great. Glad you don’t have to figure out treatment issues. 👏👏

  2. A real life Jonah story. Watch out for those alligators.

Loved the fluffy clouds going to Tampa.
