Tuesday

Stepping into the light

We drove Toby to the community center this afternoon for a walk before his dinner. We try to keep him in the shade as much as possible to protect his pink skin.

He had a good day today. As John said, he’s no longer a puppy. He’s grown into a very good dog. Who knows, maybe soon we can put the toilet paper back on the dispenser.

After lunch I headed to Weaver park to the outdoor gym. But I took the scenic route through Highlander and Hammock Parks.

It was 90 degrees and hot today. There was a 10mph breeze that helped. The scene above is from Weaver Park, the children’s playground. It’s a really nice playground, and today was the first time I saw it empty.

After exercising, I rode south on my bike along the waterfront, past the Finway Hotel, and then back home on the Pinellas Trail. In the picture above you can see a Coast Guard helicopter.

This view is from Edgewater Park looking north towards the Dunedin Causeway.

I passed through the Marina.

We rode our bikes to the causeway to walk this morning. The temperature was in the upper 70s when we started and lower 80s when we finished and then we went to Publix for the first time today.

We had to decide between a trip to Tampa to the Apple store to get a new computer or walk. We decided to walk while the weather was so beautiful and save the Tampa trip for a rainy day.

Loading up at Publix

Thank goodness for John’s electric bike and strong shoulders.

I’m not sure what these blooming flowers are, but we have a lot of them.

Hydrangeas

Not sure what these are either.
Our Bird of Paradise is over five feet tall and at least that wide. It needs pruning but neither one of us is interested in tackling it. The landscapers seem to feel the same way. They prefer hedges that they can walk past with the trimmer.

Cantaloupe, red grapes, peach yogurt, cherries, blueberries, cottage cheese, beets, and a pickle.

Turkey and cheese with sriracha hummus

Toby being a lap dog.

And pretending to be a yard dog. Seconds after I took this picture, a firecracker exploded nearby and he tucked his tail and ran for the door to get inside.

Today’s bike routes to the causeway, Publix, Weaver Park (via Highlander and Hammock Parks), the Dunedin Marina, Edgewater Park, Publix again, and the Pinellas Trail

We biked back to Publix to get a sub for dinner. I had to chase it with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to add more calories to my diet. With all our activity, I have to make sure I don’t lose weight. That’s a good problem to have.

Miles walked: 8.2
Miles biked: 19.12

  1. I would like to add more calories to my diet!

Love all your flora. I think the pink flowers may be Chirita chastity. I bought one from Reynolda Gardens this spring.

  2. The last Yoby story is funny. Your flowers are so pretty. Need to google how to prune bird of paradise.
