For the first time that I can remember the wind speed this morning was zero. The temperature was in the low 80s, eventually getting to 91. So we decided to skip our morning causeway walk and ride our bikes to the island instead, creating our own breeze. Besides, we wanted to check out the beach erosion from the hurricane.
As best as we could tell there seemed to be some loss of new sand, but most of it was still there as you can see in the picture. The pipes are still there too, so maybe they will resume their work.
Most of the sand is still here in this picture. It’s hard to tell from this distance what the beach looks like next to the water.
It’s sad to lose sand before they even finish the project and open it up to the public.
This is south beach at high tide, not much beach there.
The bike path on the island was flooded in places, and some streets were closed.
We got back home early enough to pick up a sub for lunch and walk Toby before riding downtown to the Victoria Condos to join Mom and Dad for lunch. They got take out BBQ from Q Southern BBQ where Soggy Bottom Brewery is, next to Clear Sky Draught House. Eli’s BBQ was closed (on their July vacation).
I stopped by the outdoor gym on the way home to exercise, and John went ahead of me to tend to Toby.
I spent the afternoon cleaning and conditioning our bikes from our morning ride through sand and puddles.
Mom and Dad drove by houses they liked and lounged by the pool.
They walked north on the Pinellas Trail this morning, from the Victoria Condos to Palm Boulevard, 3.4 miles round trip. Afterwards Mom went to the outdoor gym to exercise and Dad went swimming in the pool.
Today’s bike routes to Honeymoon Island, Weaver Park, and Victoria Condos
Miles walked: 6.1
Miles biked: 22.83

We sailed at LKN boat with Becca and Bill who just came home from Key Weat. A beautiful sunset and cool breeze. On our way home. Definitely sleeping in.
ReplyDeleteI played tennis this morning, weeded, vacuumed, unpacked, dusted, and gave Walter a bath.
