The weather was much better today. Temperatures were in the mid 80s with humidity around 50%. The winds were blowing 11 mph. On our morning Toby walk, the sky was so beautiful that it didn’t even look real.
Today’s class at Petsmart was very challenging. We practiced sending Toby to his bed, sitting, and staying. Since we’ve been working on that with his crate, he did pretty well.
Next, we practiced heeling in the store aisles. Then we learned “switch,” which puts the dog on the other side of your body when heeling.
Then all five dogs got in a line with their owners and heeled together. Toby did as well as any. I think five cats being sprayed with water bottles would have been better organized.
The last exercise was for all the dogs to go to the front of the store and “sit/stay” for 15 seconds. Just as the clock started, two huge golden retrievers walked out the front door, distracting Toby. By the time we got him ready again, time was up. Next week we have to do it for 30 seconds.
We’ve committed to going to Petsmart this week to practice.
Before class (relaxed)
After class (zonked)
While John and Toby napped, I rode downtown. There was some sort of organized bike event. Lots of people wearing costumes. I never learned what it was about, but there were lots of folks involved.
We were so tired we used up one of our Home Run Inn pizzas we had on reserve for emergencies. Great frozen pizza, but not very healthy.
Today’s bike route downtown
Miles walked: 5
Miles biked: 6.77
I am so entertained with this blog. Loved it all. Rain started during the night and off and on all day but I am grateful we really needed rain. Today, Dad enjoyed his ball games, I enjoyed baking and pittlling.
