Toby went to daycare and John and I went walking on the causeway. It was 75 degrees and 81 degrees later in the day. No layers, no jackets.
After walking, we headed to Ace to get sprinkler parts. This time, I got more than I needed so that I could build up my inventory for future leaks. John hates going to hardware stores (like I hate going to craft stores), but he went along for moral support.
I tested for leaks before covering up the hole. The new pipes, connectors, and sprinkler were leak-free.
After a few adjustments of the water range, I filled up the hole and walked away. Two days, two trips to the hardware store and a little bit of cussing.
We hadn’t seen the gator in a while, but he made an appearance at the annual holiday party and again tonight as we were walking Toby for the last time today. We stopped to talk to a neighbor putting up decorations in the park. Toby laid down in the grass and watched, just like we’ve been training him to do.
When we picked Toby up this afternoon from K9 Adventures, the guy who watched over Toby’s room (puppy room) gave us a report of his visit. Normally, they’ll say, “He played with X today.” But today we were told he played with every single dog. He didn’t take a nap during nap time, but he allowed the dogs who wanted to nap to nap around the perimeter while he and the others played in the center of the room. He’s going to get his full four hours of play time!
He ran into payback when he got home and wanted to nap. I dragged out the vacuum and mop and made enough racket so that he couldn’t nap. But he was too tired to chase the vacuum cleaner or walk through my wet floors.
We will all sleep well tonight.
