Fairway Estates had its holiday gathering at Lake Saundra this afternoon. We ate pizza and a year’s worth of sweets. There were lots of people, many of whom we know. Several people walked up to introduce themselves and say they see us walking or on our bikes all the time, in the neighborhood, on the causeway, on the Pinellas Trail, and downtown. One guy says he sees us while he’s making breakfast every morning. One couple had us confused with Stephen and Ken, which has happened several times. Stephen and Ken have a bichon frise, a little white dog, so perhaps we’re getting credit for their walks and vice versa.
It got up to 77 degrees today, so we were finally warm again.
A neighbors’ 11 year old dog got his hip displaced playing in the back yard. The emergency vet could not help him, so they brought him home. They’re trying to figure out what to do. Finn is such a sweet dog and one that Toby looks forward to seeing every morning, either through the window or in the street.
We put Toby in his crate to go to the neighborhood party, and he started shaking. We’re not sure why, but perhaps it’s because it was not a part of our normal routine. Dogs are funny. They like their routines. Dogs can really play with your heart, good evolutionary trick to keep us near them.
