Friday

Toby needed a bath, so we thought we’d take him to the beach this morning and get him really dirty first.

The water was cold so it was tough to get Toby to go in past his knees and elbows. He does not like cold water. He likes his showers very warm, til he’s glowing pink.

It was 65 degrees and low tide. There was lots of seaweed on the beach.

In other words, there were lots of smelly things to roll around in.

But Toby thought it was awesome.

We skipped our usual walk on the causeway this morning.

We had two bulbs to burn out, one in the kitchen and one outside above the front door. Both were too high up for safe replacement on our rickety ladder, so we headed to Ace to get the right tool and some new bulbs. It was an easy project.

I dug up my latest sprinkler repair to check for leaks. There was a tell-tell pile of sand and a hole next to the driveway. However, after I excavated the sprinkler and tested it, I couldn’t see a single leak. I should have left it alone—my usual approach to home repair. Anyway, I covered it back up and moved on. If there’s a problem, it’s going to have to manifest itself more clearly.

It was 75 degrees for our after-lunch walk.
One of our fellow dog walkers (who has Lilly, the 1 year old black Schnauzer) said to tell our friends and family up north: “The weather is here. Wish you were beautiful!” Sounds like a Mike Stallings joke, doesn’t it?

Geckos playing on the screen.

We tossed our old light box and then retrieved it to hide Toby’s dessert treat inside.

Our games are much more fun than his!

Toby fell asleep with his bone while we ate dinner. Odd thing is, he always holds his bones like a cigar and never in the traditional way, perpendicular to his body.

Thai basil shrimp, delicious!

This is Toby after a tough day.
