About 2:30, I took a bike ride out to Honeymoon Island. I couldn’t let 84 degrees go to waste. Besides, I sleep better if I get out of the house and move around.
I parked my bike at Oasis Beach and walked north until the new beach ended, what’s left of it anyway.
There were a fair number of people out, considering it wasn’t a weekend.
This picture shows a washout at the north end. Almost one point eight million dollars out to sea.
After lunch, we took Toby downtown for exercise, training, and people exposure. We walked from Weaver Park to Layne’s Lemonade at the history museum, to the Chamber of Commerce, back down Main to Highland, back to the train car, and back to Weaver Park. We stopped several times to practice commands.
It was 82 degrees and sunny.
A Happy Valentines Day mural
An artist is painting a mural on Blur, the previous gay bar downtown. The bar changed with the times and now welcomes everyone.
After we walked Toby this morning, we hopped on our bikes and headed to the causeway to walk. It was 67 degrees when we began and 72 when we finished.
John was a little chilly but he indulged me. The city of Dunedin has replaced every sidewalk street crossing and many sections of sidewalk along Causeway Boulevard in order to smooth out the trail. It’s made a big difference in riding out to the causeway and Honeymoon Island. Dunedin does a good job with maintenance and infrastructure. We joke that they have the newest trucks of all kinds. You never see a clunker.
Last fall, there was a fire at the Dunedin water treatment plant that destroyed its reverse osmosis purifier. The water has been safe to drink but tasted awful. The city has now repaired the damage and gotten the purification system going again. The water tastes great now.
As a result of the fire, we learned that breweries chose Dunedin because of their consistently good water. There are now nine breweries in this 37,000 population town. The breweries had to work extra hard to get the water ready for brewing these last several months.
Last walk of the day
Toby has turned in for the night as we watch “Teachers” on Amazon Prime.
