We made it to Precious Pets this morning instead of our usual causeway walk and saved the walk for after lunch, when it was warmer anyway.
The appointment at PP went well. It’s locally owned and in Dunedin off of Belcher Road, about 3 miles away. The owner works there six days a week and has run the place for more than 20 years. She says it’s like going to grandma’s for the dogs. She nailed it. The place is a regular house just for dogs. (She and her husband live elsewhere.) There are 4-5 dogs per room and three outdoor play areas. It’s very low tech: sticky notes everywhere and actual file folders. The tub in the bathroom is four feet off the ground. The doors to the rooms are half doors or glass on top to see through. There are gates everywhere to keep groups separated as they come and go. At any one time, a group of dogs is loose to roam the house. Then they they are sent to their rooms or outside to play and others then roam. There is a constant shuffle. There is a media room where the dogs gather. To watch TV?
We really liked it. It was less rigid than K9 Adenturers. The owner encouraged us to use up our package at K9 before transferring to PP to make it easier for the dog. Our K9 package will run out in 10 weeks.
The causeway walk was nice, in the mid 70s. The breeze made it feel cooler.
I sat outside to compose this blog late in the afternoon; it was still 72 degrees.
Our stag horn fern made it back outside. The next four days will be warm, reaching 80 degrees with morning temperatures in the 60s. After that, more cold weather.
I did some training with Toby in the house. I’m trying to do so each day, but we really need to do it outdoors or at Petsmart because that presents more distractions.
