Saturday

It has been an unusual day. It started off 75 degrees on our first walk around 7:00 a.m. Then the rain and wind came, and the temperature dropped. After lunch, the rain stopped, but the wind kept on blowing, around 20 mph. Our after-lunch walk was partly sunny, windy, and only 61 degrees.

Heavy rain and lots of leaves!

All sorts of alerts: high wind, rain, surf, tornado, lightning.

We go stir-crazy quickly when we can’t get outside, so I decided to clean out our pantry and organize.

Ta da.

I kept going with the spice cupboard and coffee surplus.
Then I vacuumed the house.

The sun came out, but it was still windy.

Last walk of the day

It’s already 55 degrees, heading to 37, one of the coldest nights of the year. The winds are still blowing about 17 mph. Leaves everywhere.

On our trainer’s recommendation, we hand fed Toby the last two nights. We are hoping to improve our bond so that we can better get his attention when we need it. Our natural skills are very laid back. We have to work at being dominant. He gets spoiled easily and then ignores us.

I practiced the “come/stop” command this afternoon. It worked. He ran to me and stopped dead in his tracks before getting to me. That’s a very difficult command to learn.

On our last walk, Toby’s leash slipped out of my hand. He took off running in the front yard. John gave a firm “come” command, and Toby came right back and did an automatic sit (without a command).  It’s good whenever we can use his training in real world situations because that means he has learned.

Dark night

No worries for Toby.
