Thursday

We saw this tri-hull sailboat in the sound this morning on our causeway walk. It’s a great boat for sailing in shallow water. There’s a lot of horizontal space, as John said.

A couple of sunfishes

We got a late start this morning because I had to be at Quest (blood draw company) at 6:45. It was quick but it threw off our morning routine.

Today was cloudy and then sunny and then cloudy, but always some blue sky somewhere. The high temperature was 82 degrees.

On the way home, we stopped to watch a manatee family under the Pinellas Trail/Curlew Creek bridge. Both of the parents bore scars, presumably from boat propellers. The little baby was about the size of Toby.

A few people gathered to watch.

Working at the outdoor gym after lunch at Weaver Park. The city is trying to get people to bike to the Friday night concerts in the park. They were setting up the stage (a mobile stage pops out off a trailer) and bicycle racks.

We took an afternoon walk at Highlander Park with Toby via golf cart.

We passed by tennis courts adapted for pickle ball courts. I think my sister and father would be good at this (and my mom, if they allowed fluffy flip flops).

This is how our sky looked today. The shade was nice.

These ducks flew in, waded in to the community center pond, and swam off.

Before dinner, we took Toby to Lake Saundra in the golf cart.

Lots of birds had the same idea.

This is Toby practicing a “leave it” command.

And this is the egret slinking away, just in case.

Made it!

This is the full butterfly garden at Lake Saundra. The garden club has worked really hard on it. They have labeled the various plants to encourage others to plant things that attract butterflies.

Toby has surprised us with his car passenger skills.

Somebody’s ready to go nite nite.

Today’s bike routes to the causeway and Weaver Park

Miles walked: 10.9
Miles biked: 11.28
