Monday

We walked Toby in the neighborhood, then rode our bikes out to the causeway drawbridge and walked to Honeymoon Island. There was zero breeze, and it was mostly sunny. The Sound looked like a lake for these two jet skis to putter around in.

We saw about a dozen dolphins. The water was so calm that it was easy to spot them breaking the surface to breathe.

Every once in a while, fish would go flying through the air trying to escape the dolphin. But the dolphin are smart: they hunt in groups. One chases the fish, the other lies in wait.

A group of three dolphins followed along with us as we walked for about 30-40 yards. It looked like two adults and a baby.

There were kayakers, too. It was a great day for that.

It was so hot that we stopped and wet our heads under the shower at the bathrooms and refilled our water bottles.

After our walk, we rode our bikes home to get the bike trailer to take to Publix. We needed lots of supplies. That's John in the picture above with the bike and trailer full of groceries.

We had lunch and then took Toby to Highlander Park to walk in the shade. He's getting very comfortable on the golf cart.

John got this shot of a butterfly in front of our house.

We took Toby to Petsmart for training at 3:00. Since we had last week off, she planned an easy and fun session. All the dogs were a little off, but by the end, they were focused again. We all left exhausted. It's getting easier though, not because he's getting better but because we're getting more relaxed and comfortable with our imperfections.

On our last walk of the day, we forgot our treats. It turned out to be a good thing. Some neighbors on their golf cart stopped us to talk. He was perfect for about ten minutes, not a single treat. He sat, he sniffed, he got into a "down." He let us talk. But after ten minutes, he had had enough. He started jumping on us and biting his leash, which is the way a two year old dog says "I'm bored." The couple has also had three dogs, and they immediately got the message and moved along.

Miles walked: 9.7
Miles biked: 8.97
