After we walked Toby this morning in the neighborhood, we hopped on our bikes and went to Honeymoon Island to walk. It was 83 degrees with a 2-3 mph breeze. The water was amazingly beautiful. The picture above is beautiful, but it was even prettier in person.
We first parked at Bathhouse #1.
It was so hot that we wet our hair first.
We walked south (Dog Beach) to the tip of the island. Caledesi Island, across the channel, was recently voted the #2 beach in the US by Dr. Beach.
There were lots of people in the water.
This is the southern tip of Honeymoon Island, looking northwest. The tip is constantly changing in shape. I think a lot of the sand from Oasis Beach gets washed down here.
John found some hermit crabs.
There were lots of dogs having a good time. This man was "swimming" his two dogs while he walked.
Trying to even out my farmer's tan a little bit.
We rode our bikes to North Beach and then walked on the beach some more. We got home about 12:30.
The helicopter sprays for mosquitoes.
After lunch, we took Toby on a go cart ride to Highlander Park so that he could walk in the shade. The high temperature today was 90 degrees. The next few days will be less hot.
Toby got a shower this afternoon after he rolled around in the decaying remains of a squirrel. Disgusting.
I went to the gym after lunch. Then I met John on the Pinellas Trail, and we rode our bikes to Publix to get a few ingredients for our Eggplant Paradise recipe.
Sautéed eggplant.
The split pea mixture.
Ready to bake tomorrow. This is the first meal I’ve prepared from scratch since I retired.
We had John’s leftover spaghetti tonight for dinner.
A good day.
