We had dinner with some neighbors we met at the July 4th event. They have two dogs, one a 10-month old, who is as playful as Toby. Their other dog is 10 years old. Both female.
The three dogs ran around the pool, around the yard, back and forth. They got along well, but it was doggie mayhem. No damage that I'm aware off, but we were holding our breaths.
Their dogs don't get in the pool, but Toby went in twice: once on purpose and once by accident. He was running around the pool on the deep end and slipped in. His head went under, but he came up swimming. I went to the side of the pool and he swam over. I pulled him up by his harness and he took off playing, pretty unfazed. He took the corners a bit more carefully after that. The hosts said their pool guy said a dog swimming in the pool is equal to 20 people swimming in the pool, as far as mess and chemicals required to clean it up. If that's true, then Toby was like having 40 people in the pool.
The hosts were very laid back. They did ask us to use the side gate when we left. Ha.
That's not a shadow on Toby's face; it's black dirt. He had it on all his legs and belly, too.
We stayed as long as we could after dinner, but when Toby fell in the deep end, we took our cue. We joked that he had just completed the pre-rinse cycle for the shower awaiting him at home.
The temperature was in the low 80s this morning with very little breeze, so we rode our bikes downtown and walked to Clearwater (Stevenson Creek). It was very hot, so hot I didn't even take my camera out of my pocket to take any pictures. It was a death march.
After lunch, we took Toby to Highlander Park and then later to Lake Saundra to walk in the shade.
Last walk of the day.
Miles walked: 9.9
Miles biked: 8.93
