Thursday

Rain was predicted for 11:30 this morning, so John and I decided to divide and conquer. He prefers walking the causeway, while I prefer variety and going to the gym on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. So, after walking Toby in the neighborhood, we rode our bikes to the causeway: John turned north and headed to the causeway to walk and I headed south to the outdoor gym at Weaver Park. The bird above was hanging out at St. Joseph's Sound, south of town, waiting for my pre-gym walk.

As I rode by the gym, it was crowded, so I decided to ride downtown and walk first. I parked at the train station and headed down to the marina.

The temperature was 82 degrees, but there was decent cloud cover and a 5 mph breeze from the south. So, as long as I walked south, the breeze and clouds kept me comfortable. I followed the Sound along Edgewater Drive.

It's surprising how close Clearwater Beach is to Dunedin. The Beach practically overlaps the mainland of southern Dunedin.

I walked all the way down to Orangewood, the next to last street before the city limits. I walked east for a couple of blocks until I hit the Pinellas Trail. I lost the breeze, but gained the shade.

The Pinellas Trail, looking north, at about 10:00 a.m.

I spotted these tiny wildflowers blooming on the side of the trail.

I made it to the gym about 10:20 and had it all to myself.

There were thunderstorms toward the north, but they were moving away from me. They helped to cool things down a bit.

John walked from Walgreens to the state park entrance on his walk. He rode down to check on me about 11:00. Then he went home to let Toby out of his crate. I made it home for lunch a little after 11:30. He put out a new flag. It’s a heart in rainbow colors with “Love is love” written on it.

I enjoyed the day. It's easier to workout in the morning than the afternoon, especially not having to workout after a grueling walk in the heat. We might follow this routine three days a week. Lots of pretty clouds today.

It started to sprinkle around 4:00 p.m. It wasn’t much, but it lowered the temperature to 80 degrees. We walked around the lake. I got this almost perfect mirror shot.

Toby had a good day. I think he’s recovering from yesterday’s doggie daycare. We’ve been able to open up the spare bedrooms for the first time in two years. Toby couldn’t be trusted. So far, he’s been good, walking in and walking out, leaving everything as he found it.

Miles walked: 9.5
Miles biked: 6.84
