The three of us headed to the causeway to walk as the sun came up. We got there about 6:45; sunrise was at 7:04. Toby hasn't been on a causeway walk in quite a while, maybe since he was a puppy.
He liked the new smells and behaved pretty well. He got a little bored towards the end of his 2-mile walk.
We drove Toby home and headed back out to the causeway on our bikes to take our walk.
Flowers blooming on the causeway
I finally got good pictures of a stingray. You can see his long tail as he swims away from us.
In this picture, you can see his eyes as he swims towards us. We are looking down from the drawbridge. He's actually chasing a school of fish.
After lunch, I rode downtown and then to the outdoor gym at Weaver Park.
It was 93 degrees with a heat index in the 100s. Very hot.
Trying to keep Toby engaged, I loaded up his hardest puzzle. He hasn't solved this in a long time.
I'm so proud that he remembered how to do it.
He was very methodical and focused.
After he emptied all the squares, he went to his bed and relaxed. He was not interested in playing any of his games, like stealing towels from the laundry room and parading them through the house. The puzzle mentally exhausted him. As our trainer says, "Invent games to play with him or else he'll invent his own . . . and you won't like his."
The Fine Art Center is getting a fresh coat of paint.
John stopped in a shop on Main the other day and took this picture of painted shells.
One of our neighbors painted "Hello, Gorgeous" on her fence. She's the artist who drew chalk drawings on her driveway during the pandemic and occasionally afterward. She adores Toby and has been patiently working with him so she can pet him. Toby can be very shy around people he doesn't know. He was that way with us at first.

We have had a nice day in Happy Valley. Back at our cottage but got a call from Mike’s caregiver. His hands were shaking, he couldn’t get up from his chair, and he had a bathroom accident. Waiting to see if we have to leave.
