Saturday

Toby’s skin problem was worse when we woke up, so we called the veterinarian for an appointment this morning, John remembering that he works 1/2 day on Saturday. Incidentally, this was the same room we said goodbye to Dee Dee during the pandemic when only those who were putting their animals to sleep were allowed in the building.

We got at 10:30 appointment. Toby was beginning to bite his bumps even while on Benadryl. His discomfort signaled it was time to take action. Toby wanted a treat at checkout.

The doctor prescribed antibiotics to get the bumps under control. He believes it is an allergic reaction, but it’s very difficult to ascertain the cause. He said we were doing the right thing with Benadryl and DermaBens shampoo, and that we should continue with those, since the shampoo will work on the surface infection and the Benadryl will quell inflammation and curb his skin biting. The antibiotics will work beneath the skin. The infection had gotten out of hand and needed the antibiotics.

We learned from the Internet that dogs with his characteristics are susceptible to skin allergies and infections. Toby should show some improvement in the next week to ten days.

This thunderstorm began passing through from west to east just as we got home.

With more to come. It’s nice having rainy days. It cools things off and gives us all time to rest and heal. We wouldn’t leave Toby alone like this anyway.

We watched Merli on Netflix and gave Toby a medicated shampoo.

After shampoo and bath

We got this rainbow today . . .

And this one yesterday.

Last walk of the day

More rain is coming tonight and tomorrow.

We got takeout burritos from Los Amigos, across from the bowling alley. Their food is more authentic Mexican than Juan’s.

  1. I am feeling Toby’s skin issues. It took me years to get mine under control. I changed dermatologist who had prescribed meds and creams that didn’t work. My new dermatologist determined that I had an infection I the ski and prescribed antibiotics which cleared up my itching forever.
