Tuesday (rainbows and unicorns)

It’s rare in North Carolina to be able to see the end of the rainbow because of the trees. This morning on our Toby walk we got to see where the rainbow ends.

No pot of gold, but still pretty special.

Here’s what the rainbow looked like when we started our walk.

Double rainbow

Right after we saw the end of the rainbow, we got caught in a downpour, with 1/2 the horizon filled with sun.

We walked through this tunnel in the rain.

By the time we got home, we had walked ourselves out of the rain and into clear skies. WTF, or as they say here: Welcome To Florida (WTF).

Sir Toby patiently awaits the rest of his pack before commencing his walk.

After that downpour, John fixed us our second pot of morning coffee.

We had lunch with the queen at Cricketers, a British pub in the Causeway Plaza. We saw neighbors a few tables over. The woman is a dog lover and reminds us from time to time that she would love to keep Toby if we ever need a vacation. Then a couple of guys noticed us (John) from walking the causeway; they are friends with a guy we know who rides his electric bike after having two knee replacements. We were told he’s now playing pickle ball.

John texted a picture of us with the queen to the family text thread, and we forgot about it. I was telling John that I thought I was developing dementia because my brain is slow and I sometimes have trouble speaking. Then I hear a ding and say, “Wow, someone has already replied to your text.” John looks at me puzzled and says, “What?” I repeated what I said. And he said “Nope,” picking up his phone to show me. Then I remembered that my phone dings; his whistles. The ding I heard was the two minute reminder on my phone from his original message. I said, “See, I’m loosing it.” To which he replied: “Well I didn’t even hear it ding.” Then we both belly laughed over our diminishing abilities.

I got the Taco Tuesday special, a chicken, beef, and fish taco, with rice and beans. They were all good, but the chicken was the best. (Honestly, the rice and beans had the best flavor.)

John tried their signature dish: fish and chips. He said they were good, maybe not as good as Carvor’s. We planned to have a light dinner at home.

A seagull pooped on our car while we were having lunch, so I washed the car when we got home, even though I started out just to rinse off the poop. Project creep.

We finally got around to hanging this mirror that we found on the side of the street from one of our neighbors a year or so ago.

They put it out on the curb for pickup. John saw it on a walk while it was sprinkling. We snatched it up.

It’s been in the spare bedroom ever since. That makes the 6th home decor item we’ve gotten off the street.

We took an afternoon go cart ride to Highlander Park with Toby.

He got to enjoy the loveliest sidewalk in Dunedin.

Toby’s favorite toy is his unicorn village.

It’s a little house made out of fleece that houses three little unicorns. There are two small windows for them to fit through. He LOVES removing them and playing with them. They aren’t that easy for him to get out, especially without him having opposable digits and when they’re tucked down inside.

When he’s through playing with the unicorns, he brings them to us and drops them in our lap so we can put them back in the village, so he can remove them again, over and over.

Here’s another rainbow from Mira Vista Park earlier today.

  1. You guys are getting to be very good photographers. The colorful skies are beautiful. Toby looks so sweet patiently waiting for his friends. Mom and I had evening dinner at Harbor Inn. We had shrimp; not as good asDunedin’s.

  2. I started the day walking with two friends who walk a lot faster than I can. 3 miles. Took care of computer stuff, went to Reynolda Garden Preview for plants Mowed, went to cap 10 workout. Started cooking collards and carrots and forgot about our Tuesday culde sac gathering. Just cleaned up the kitchen. Finishing reading the Postmistess of Paris.
