Friday

After our morning Toby walk in the neighborhood, John and I took the golf cart down to Stirling Park and walked south on the Pinellas Trail to downtown. We wanted to check out the preparations for the Halloween trick or treat event tonight that we wanted to take Pam to.

Casa Tina's had a lot of Day of the Dead decorations.

I need one of these signs.

We saw this rickshaw type of bikes. Two people sit in the front while the biker pedals from behind.

After we got home from our downtown walk, we drove with Toby to the St. Petersburg airport to pick up my sister, who is staying with us for a week. Toby is very excited, as you can tell.

He's never been to the airport before.

We got home around 3:00 and sat and talked with Pam and gave her time to work through her jet lag. Clearly, she was still dressed for NC.

Then the four of us got in Toby's go cart and headed to Highlander Park for an afternoon walk. Bring on the shorts, right?

Then John, Pam, and I got on our bikes and headed downtown for the Halloween party.

People everywhere. The downtown was blocked off, and merchants were handing out candy.

The pets were the best part.

Great costumes!

We saw several costumes like this one. It makes your mind do a double take.

Pam and Perry downtown

Ah, look at that!

Pam had a cereal bar for lunch and a half of a banana before we took her downtown via bike. By 7:00, we were all starving. So we rode back to HOB (House of Beer) and got Impossible Burgers and a Steak Sandwich from the food truck. We thought we were in luck because there was no line. After we paid, we were handed a call puck. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. UGH.

While we were waiting, the sun set. Luckily, we all had lights, but then we got a rain alert. The chance of rain was 15% again. We pulled up the radar to see red, yellow, and green headed our way.

We contemplated abandoning our food and making a run for it, but we were too hungry.

Finally, our food came and we asked for a bag.

John tucked the bag in his bike crate and off we went into the night, along with dozens of other bikers.

We made it home to have our dinner at 8:00 pm, the latest we've eaten in two years. Heck, usually we're asleep or nearly asleep by then.

It was an adventure that ended well: no rain, a delicious meal, and lots of fun.

Miles walked: 11.3
Miles biked: 7.15
