After lunch, we took Toby to Highlander park for a walk. He had ice cream on his mind.
He wanted to go downtown for ice cream so bad, but we wouldn’t take him.
Not happy!
He was a little sad about that.
But he got over it. He decided to behave and enjoy the ride.
It was a beautiful, sunny day with a high temperature of 81 degrees.
The low humidity made it just about perfect.
We passed by a yard full of wood storks.

After our go cart outing, I rode my bike to Clearwater, stopping at Stevenson Creek for these pictures.
On the way home, I stopped at the outdoor gym at Weaver park to exercise.
Stretching and light weight lifting. So far, so good.
We rode our bikes to the causeway and walked this morning. It was 70 degrees when we started and 75 when we finished—excellent weather for walking and kayaking.
We stopped by Publix to pick up fresh fruit. I noticed John inspecting the apples, which were on sale. He was picking at them. I asked what he was doing, and he said, “I’m removing the stems,” to which I replied: “Why?” He said: “I’m not paying for that!” 😱 I was speechless. Funny man.
Yesterday, the shade in the bedroom broke so that only one side retracted; the other side just made a huge fan. They are only 3 1/2 years old! I installed 11 of them on spring break back in 2019. We had bought the house sight unseen over MLK weekend that January when we drove down for the closing over the long weekend.
Anyway, I dismantled the shade and took it apart so I could see how it worked. I saw a pulley mechanism with about six strings on one side and a fixed mechanism on the other. I pushed and pulled. Then I saw a loose string on the fixed side with a knot in it. I pulled it and stuck the knot in a slot on the sliding mechanism. Then pushed it back and forth. It worked! I put everything back together and rehung it. No landfill addition and no trip to Lowes.

Amazing shade repair. 👏👏so happy for you!!!!! As Perry stated last night. “Betty is being cremated”.
ReplyDeleteTherefore due to Bill’s grief/physical condition her memorial will be scheduled in a few weeks. Therefore we are going to Oriental tomorrow as originally planned.👏👏We had a great visit with all the Howie children/spouses. Toby facial expressions were priceless. I’m with John but never thought of removing apple stems. Thank you for the tip John. Love to all.
I have a shade in our bedroom that I have to do the same
ReplyDeleteThing thing to! Really need to replace as I bought them many many years ago and the paint on them is flaking.
