Monday

We decided we couldn't leave Toby alone for our usual causeway walk this morning, so we took turns. John walked the causeway by himself this morning while I stayed home with Toby. I kept Toby from biting his wounds. The open wounds had healed some overnight, but his back is covered in bumps. After lunch, we took Toby for a walk at Highlander Park and rode around the neighborhood. Then I rode down to Weaver Park to exercise at the outdoor gym. I did my first pull-up since August without incident. Afterwards, I rode down to Main Street and locked my bike and walked down to Edgewater Drive, pictured above.

I walked south to the southern edge of Dunedin when it started to lightly sprinkle. It was 83 degrees and the wind was blowing at 10 mph. The rain on my face felt good.

I turned east and headed to the Pinellas Trail to walk back downtown.

I passed the whispering evergreens you can see on the right. They can be really loud when the winds are blowing.

John took the above picture and the one below on his morning causeway walk.

I took this picture on my walk. The city has been showing movies in Pioneer Park on Fridays during the month of October.

Toby likes to run through the house with a squeaky toy after his shower.

Toby got a medicated shampoo tonight after his last walk of the day. Then we'll start showering him every other day with medicated shampoo and perhaps spray him down with regular dog shampoo on the other days, maybe after every walk until his skin looks better.

A cold front is coming Wednesday. The high temperature will only be 65 degrees. 🥶 Maybe that will help with the allergens. The low is supposed to be 50 degrees.

We did some research on dog allergies. We learned that early morning and late evenings are when allergens are the most potent (which is also the time Toby walks to poop.) Antihistimines are most helpful as preventative medicine before dogs have an outbreak. Wiping him down or showering after every walk are recommended. Keeping them from biting their skin is important to prevent secondary infections.

Miles walked: 8.5
Miles biked: 6.89
