We got home from Toby's Brain Games, exhausted and hungry. So we took the go cart to Bambino's for another pesto pizza, with thin sliced salami, tomatoes, artichokes, and garlic. We ate the whole thing! We wore long sleeves because 75 degrees on the go cart is chilly.

We got Toby a new puzzle toy to play with after his dinner. That's usually when he invents his own games to play.
This one has four connected tunnels with a tennis ball inside. It's designed for the tennis ball to come out two of the tunnels. He has to figure out how to do it.
It squeaks on the top.

or bottom.
It successfully tired him out so that he didn't have to invent any of his own games, none of which we ever like.
On our early morning walk, it was 73 degrees. Two residents are doing a water quality inspection of Saundra Lake. It's rare to see boats in the lake.
We drove to Publix in the car to walk the causeway. We needed to pick up a lot of groceries, so our car was ready for grocery shopping after our walk. That meant we walked the full length of the causeway. It was overcast but comfortable. It got up to 80 degrees today.
In the afternoon, we went to brain games at Petsmart. There were three dogs today, and the trainer said that Toby was the superstar. He did great with his colors. He is pretty consistent with differentiating blue from yellow. But, instead of us holding them up for him to choose with his nose, today we put the colored frisbees on the floor for him to choose blue or yellow on our command. It made it much harder because dogs have a hard time generalizing what they have learned.
He also got to ring the bell, but today one of us went out in the store to hide it. Then we took him to within 10 feet of it and told him to "find it" and "tap it." He struggled with all the distractions. He eventually found it and tapped it.
The one new thing he learned was to get into a down without a command whenever we sit down. I didn't think he'd ever do this one, but with a few commands, he was able to do it without commands fairly quickly. Eventually, we should be able to generalize this behavior in different environments.
Buffy, the husky, got loose in the training area today when her owner dropped a tennis ball and it rolled right over to Toby. The husky came bounding over, but stopped short when she got close to Toby. Thankfully, Toby didn't react and the owner was able to get Buffy under control.
Lunch: PB&J, fruit bowl (mango, apple, blueberry, avocado) with Greek yogurt and cottage cheese.
Toby is exhausted from his big day.
We're watching two shows on Netflix: "Heartbreak High" and "Family Secrets."

ReplyDeleteI know that Husky and her owner. So proud of Toby for not reacting.
Do you need used tennis balls for his new game.
It has been frigid cold and rainy today and I am already over winter
Really enjoyed Toby’s day. We are so impressed! We had a cold rainy day. Heavy coats required. Love to all.
