We went to Toby’s second class of advanced training this morning. There were four big dogs in the class, all of them taking the class for the first time except for Toby, who’s on his third time in this class. For once, he’s setting the bar for the newbies. There’s nothing like experience to calm the nerves and look suave.
We practiced about a dozen different exercises. Toby did really well on all of them. The only thing we got called out on (it’s always something!) is that we forgot to put his collar on him this morning. He was only wearing his harness. Our trainer explained that the collar is important if your dog slips out of his harness. It gives you something to grab, and if he gets loose it helps to identify him.
The hardest part of advanced training is that we can no longer use treats.
Our early morning walk was pretty cold, about 47 degrees with a 19 mph wind. Temperatures are not supposed to go much higher than 50 degrees, making today our 5th day of winter (high temps below 60 degrees).
Winter time is orange harvesting time. Soon, we’ll have lots of Florida oranges in the grocery store. They have already started appearing.
Last walk of the day. Toby insists on a 6:00 pm walk no matter what. On cold nights like this, we’re not happy about it. It’s 49 degrees.
We’ve got an art project in mind. We want to select some of our best photos and have them enlarged and printed and then arrange them on a wall in pretty frames. Today, I went through our pictures. I culled 100. Now we have to get that down to a dozen!
Miles walked: 7
Miles biked: 0

Love your art idea. Can’t wait to see that project. The photo of the back of John’s hair is very pretty. Envy! We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning. The pecan waffles were almost as good as Perry’s. Been out of church for 2 weeks. Getting back tomorrow. That means getting up at 6:30am. Ug! We have had a sunny day but COLD and WINDY. I got OUT THE flannel SHEETS again this morning. Love to all.
