Wednesday

Ducks in one of the Stirling Park ponds.

We took Toby in the go cart to Stirling Park to walk while we called Bambino’s to make us a couple of spinach Strombolis to pick up afterwards. The park is lovely in the late afternoon winter sun. St. Andrews condominiums border the park, overlooking the ponds.

The other buildings overlook the golf course, driving range, and the Dunedin Golf Clubhouse and restaurant. Of all the condos in town, these are my favorite. You can’t beat the location, and they have electrical golf cart hook ups and cart storage under one of the buildings.

John is standing in the future dog park area.

Off to the side is where the future pickle ball courts are going.

We waited a few minutes for our food. John asked about the “newest daily specials,” but the owner said she hasn’t had time to come up with them yet. Apparently, she had just enough time to advertise them on the board above.

Toby has really gotten comfortable with his go cart. He hops in quickly and settles down.

It was 48 degrees on our early morning walk with Toby, so we skipped the causeway and headed to Publix to stock up. We read and relaxed until lunch.

After lunch, the temperature had warmed up to 70 degrees, so I rode my bike to the outdoor gym at Weaver Park. It’s Wednesday, gym day.

The views can’t be beat: to the west is St. Joseph’s Sound, to the east the Pinellas Trail, to the south, Weaver Park. There’s always something to look at.

I did 68 pull-ups (not at one time) while I was there, plus a lot of other exercises. My goals are to increase my strength and balance and to eliminate neck and back pain.

So far, I’ve gained about 10 lbs. since I’ve retired and avoided most of the aches and pains I have accumulated over the years from all that paper grading.

Occasionally, I’ll sleep in an awkward position or make an awkward twisting movement (as in raking) and experience moderate pain for a few days. But I’ve found that stretching exercises and the gym make it go away more quickly than just waiting for it to heal on its own.

Last walk of the day

We’re watching a show called “Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays” on Netflix. It’s about a psychiatrist and his patient. It’s funny and light, perfect before bedtime.

Miles walked: 7
Miles biked: 5.73

  1. Enjoyed the photos of John and Toby. Beautiful scenes. I vacuumed the attic today as well as swept and mopped the garage. Thank you Perry again for keeping our garage clean as well as house keeping chores every week while you were here. Did I tell ya’ll that Eileen Jefferson died? Services are Sunday. Love to all.
