Friday

The wind was blowing 20-25 mph today, so we decided to drive the golf cart to Stirling Park and walk downtown instead of on the causeway. It was 75 degrees when we started out.

There’s a beer festival going on this weekend at Edgewater Park, at the Dunedin marina. This sign is at House of Beer (HOB).

Cueni Brewery: She believed she could so she did.

The blue building is Cotterman’s Brewery. There are several others on Main Street, a couple on Douglass, and a couple on Bayshore Boulevard.

This sign with the stickers on the back reminds me of the Key West mile one marker.

A musician played his guitar at the Dunedin History Museum, downtown.

Mas Fina came this morning. Our grass is making a comeback from the winter doldrums.

After our morning walk, we got Toby and went to Bambino’s to pick up spinach Strombolies for lunch.

Then I drove to Weaver Park after lunch, not wanting to bike in 25 mph winds. I took my new yoga mat and did stretching and core exercises.

The picture above not withstanding, it was awesome. I did some relaxation exercises and felt like I could easily take a nap. I had a flashback to first grade in Ms. Seller’s class. We each had a napping mat that we would unfold midday during rest period. Mine was green on one side and tan on the other, with white trim. It folded into fourths for storage. The rule was we didn’t have to nap, but we couldn’t talk or get up during rest time. Our mats were spread out in the aisles. Such a vivid memory.

I positioned my mat in the shade where I could look up and see the sky, birds, and clouds. Then the strangest thing happened after I finished my stretching: ALL the soreness in my back vanished, every single hint of pain and discomfort. So, now I’m sold. I’m taking my yoga mat to the gym every time. I followed that up with my usual workout, which went much more smoothly than earlier in the week when I was still experiencing some discomfort. You CAN exercise at home, but it’s much more difficult to relax and be thorough. I’m always distracted or rushed at home. Rushing and relaxing don’t mix.

John tested out my mat and declared it comfortable, so he ordered one exactly like mine. It arrived today along with a new bath mat so that we don’t have to share ours with Toby and Petsmart.

John’s Mat
It is so nice to shop online when it’s convenient and not have to drive around, taking valuable time out of the day.

Late afternoon walk—80 degrees, still windy but less than it was earlier. I like the pelican mailbox.

Pretty clouds

For dinner, we had a Sumo orange and apple fruit bowl, a smoothie with avocado, strawberries, bananas, mango, blueberries, yogurt, cottage cheese, orange juice, and mango/peach juice. Then we had a bowl of oatmeal with walnuts and blueberries.

Last walk of the day

We got stopped by neighbors who were having a driveway social, three couples. They wanted our number so that they could invite us to join them next time they get together. We exchanged numbers. All our area codes were from out of state when we first got cellphones: Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina.

Miles walked: 11
Miles biked: 0

  1. Love your Ms Sellars comment. My memory is she pulled teeth that needed pulling and I have two very old tatted pillowcase that she sent me when Jeff and I married.

I shopped for Sumo oranges when. I got home I finally found them at Trader Joe’s. They were 2.69 a piece. What a luxury you shared with us.
