Tuesday

We avoided the Red Tide this morning by riding our bikes to Publix and parking there. Then we walked north on the Pinellas Trail towards Palm Harbor.

It was nice to see less familiar places and people. I think we’re ready for the snowbirds to go home so things won’t be so crowded.

The walk this morning was serene.

This Pinellas Trail bridge marks the northern boundary of Dunedin.

The pedestrian and bike bridge offers beautiful views of the sound.

We passed DiGiorgio’s and made a note to check the menu. It’s only 3 miles via bike on the Pinellas Trail from our house. [Ed. Pricey menu: lasagna, $23; spaghetti, $21; house salad $10; pizza $21]

It was a beautiful morning with temperatures in the mid 70s.

The red line shows our route from Publix to the blue dot where we turned around.

We’re exploring prepared food at Publix as a solution to our cooking problem. We bought some baked chicken fillets from the deli and a salad and we bought some canned tomatoes with herbs. Our plan is to make our own pasta meal. Less mess, less time. Less processed and low sodium.

We need to check this place out, too. [Ed. It turns out they use “balanced training” which is code for using positive rewards and negative punishments to train dogs. Prong collars and electric shock collars.]

After shopping at Publix and having lunch, we drove Toby in the golf cart to Highlander Park for a walk. It was a beautiful 77 degrees. We want to return to the Palm Cafe for another salmon burger.

Toby is always up for a golf cart ride.

And he knows how to show his appreciation.

He came home exhausted, pouring himself into his bed for a nap.

Everything is turning green again.

Last night’s full moon.

Miles walked: 9.6
Miles biked: 3.87

  1. Love love the lush tropical plants along your walkways.

I feel like Toby tonight. Played tennis, went to the gym, took Courtney to Dr’s appointments , went to a Reynolda Gardens lecture on Orchids. About to take a hot shower and hunker down for the evening.

  2. An interesting change in your walk today. I didn’t recognize any of the scenes. I pulled numerous items together to offer my cleaning ladies They took everything. An excellent way to rid unwanted “stuff”. I have more items to go through just need some uninterrupted time. We had a very nice sunny day today BUT wind which made it not so warm. Love to all.
