Friday (TileClub.com)

I rode my bike to Weaver Park and did yoga for an hour this morning. It has been cloudy all day and windy. It was 83 degrees at the park with winds blowing 12-15 mph.

I rode down to Stevenson Creek on the Pinellas Trail, talked to a lone fisherman on the bridge.

Not a lot of blue sky today.

Lots of scattered showers in the forecast. We got a 10 minute shower this afternoon even though the forecast said only 30% chance. Great for the grass (and pollen).

After lunch, we went to Lowes to look for backsplash tile. But the salesperson in appliances recognized us from the causeway: "I see you guys on the causeway all the time. I also see you riding your bikes all over town." She showed us some appliances and gave us her card. She said when we're ready to come back and see her. As far as backsplashes go, we didn't see anything we liked, so I came home and did a search online and found these at Tile Club. This marble mosaic above and below undulates like the ocean.

Here's the same tile with a wider view. It may not be modern enough, but it's kind of cool.

This recycled glass basket weave has texture.

Here's a wider view.
Here's a close up. The texture might not be such a good texture for the kitchen. We would choose a countertop with some color (lines) in it if we chose this one. It's just beautiful. Subtle.

This white triangle glass mosaic is interesting.

This marble and glass mosaic has texture and smoothness. Isn't it beautiful?

This is a white and blue terrazzo with some brown in it. The tiles are about 2 feet by 4 feet.

This silver herringbone is reflective, maybe too much. The tiles are teeny tiny. Probably too busy.

I think we're back on a more promising path. Home Depot and Lowes offered very trendy and typical things. These are so much more interesting. Which one(s) do you like, if any, for our contemporary kitchen with white cabinets, quartz countertops (mostly white), stainless steel appliances, and the finger tab pulls?

  3. Thanks for your feedback! We will meet with Ottoson when they have the demo/construction, electrical, plumbing budget to go with the cabinet/countertop budget. Then we sign contracts.
