Monday

Our refrigerator got installed today, no water hook-up yet, but the fridge works. The workers came by after lunch while we were out walking. By the time we got home, it was in place, so I don't know how those two guys were able to lift it off the styrofoam base, but they did. The workers will ask around at the shop if anyone wants our old fridge. He said usually someone wants it, if only for a second fridge in the garage.

John was more than excited.

Just before I snapped this picture, he was actually hugging the fridge. We downloaded the app on our phones and registered the fridge. (It took two downloads and three attempts to get the app to recognize our wifi and our fridge.) The app also allows you to control the temperature and other settings on our phones. I doubt we will ever use it, but who knows. We ordered a replacement filter so we'll be ready when the new one runs out. We will use filtered water for our new coffee maker.

The workers came by early this morning and leveled up the knee walls to the living room and the eat-in kitchen. We thought that was all that was happening today. We didn't mention the fridge when they were here because the boss was working on getting it done Friday. We're not sure who does what. They were nice when they came back for the fridge.

The fridge guys also re-installed the mini LED light over the range. I'm glad I didn't try. It turned out to be difficult, more cutting involved.

The workers also brought the countertop sample with them. You can see it above beside the fridge. We've been gradually filling up the pull-out pantry. That thing holds a lot and some of the upper cabinets. We're holding off on putting things in the bottom cabinets until the countertop is installed.

Here's a close up, very faint gold and silver.

I brought out the backsplash one more time.

Cabinet, countertop, and backsplash

The flush handle in our bathroom has been peeling paint ever since we moved in. It makes touching it icky. I've tried painting it, but it still looks and feels yucky. So I did research to order a new one. I could only find a telephone number stamped inside the tank. I couldn't find a brand name anywhere. The telephone number was for ordering a new flapper. I typed it in Google and learned that we have a Gerber toilet. From there, I was able to find a new handle to order just like the one we have, only with more paint. It should arrive soon.

We went to three open houses this weekend. One in the neighborhood and two at the St. Andrews condominiums on Palm Boulevard. John got this shot of a painting he liked in one open house. Here's a link to the 3/3 2-level condo, 2020 sq ft. The upstairs has a separate entrance. I like the way it has been remodeled. It's a rare 2-level condo at St. Andrews, essentially two condo spaces combined into one with one large kitchen and primary bedroom downstairs, and an upstairs sitting room and two more bedrooms and two baths. It might work for a multi-family residence. It's huge and totally renovated in crisp white. The bathrooms are beautiful. The laundry room is huge. Both condos were directly across from the pool and The Dunedin Golf Club.

Up next: while we're waiting on countertops, there are a few little things: replacing the hinges in the laundry room with 90 degree limited hinges to prevent the door pulls from dinging the walls; rope lights for the kitchen and living room upper shelves; bumpers for the cabinet doors that will work with our pulls.
