We began filling up our upper cabinets today. I sent this picture to my cousin, Kim, the organizing expert. She was encouraging but said to use the adjustable shelves to my advantage.

So I played around with shelf arrangements. I like the last cabinet on the right for cookbooks. I can see pulling one off the shelf and sitting at the bar to peruse. Empty shelves above the cookbooks could hold some serving plates.

I think this arrangement works. I can reach every shelf except for the top one.

Baking

Colander and strainer next to the sink, plus leftover baking trays, which will probably end up next to the range when the countertop gets installed.

Electrical appliances: crockpot, blender, hand mixer

baking dishes: casseroles, pies, cakes

griddle, large baking pan, cast iron skillet

After the countertops are installed: cutting boards, baking racks, baking trays will go beside the range; spices, oils, measuring utensils, salt will go on the other side of the range; drawers will be filled later; we have one large drawer under the microwave for the portable hood vent; stand mixer will have to go under the sink in the dead zone (it's too tall and too heavy to go anywhere else); and we have an empty cabinet above the pull-out pantry and a few empty shelves. More stuff to bring out, in due time.

Our door knob for the laundry room closet arrived late this evening.

I think I like it.

What do you think about these fun glasses? Our short glasses are in short supply. I broke one trying to wash it in our bathroom sink. John likes them. We'll put them in the "think about it" category.
