Tuesday

Brunch: walnuts, apples, sumo orange, and blackberries

I rode my bike out to Honeymoon Island this morning to walk and jog. John stayed home to recuperate from yesterday. The view above is at Bath House #3 looking north. The dunes and vegetation are all gone. What is left of the beach is mostly over wash in the parking lot. It's so sad. After the last re-nourishment, they had created a large dune barrier between the beach and parking lot and sowed it with all sorts of vegetation. Then in front of the dune was a stretch of white sand, about 50 yards or more.

The view from the top of Bathhouse #3.

As I was jogging, I came to the end of the island, except I was still a mile away. Then I realized that this was a new inlet at the northern end of Honeymoon Island, cutting the island in two.

The breach is wide, the current swift. A new island is born.

The blue dot shows where the new inlet is. Everything above the blue dot is no longer accessible, at least not during high tide. I wonder if they'll give the new island a name?

Even the sand I was standing on looks like it is usually under water. In the view above, I am looking south with the gulf on the right and the sound on the left.

Looking east, you can see the peninsula sticking out of Honeymoon Island with a little bay between the peninsula and the western edge of the island.

Looking south, you can see how narrow the new tip of the island is.

Looking north, you can see the roots and stems of trees. There used to be a beach on the left side of the line of mangrove trees where you could walk. That beach is gone, and now the trees are disappearing.

A nice stretch of beach.

I got to do some walking and jogging for my HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) for the day.

I got home in time for a hearty lunch.

We took Toby to Highlander Park for an after lunch walk. Then we all settled down and relaxed for the afternoon.

For dinner, we tried whipping up a meal using ingredients on hand without a recipe. We now have the hang of these types of dishes.  The canned chicken chunks look like cheese, but it's just the termeric talking.

Here's the recipe that I typed up. We thought it was as good an any of the previous dishes. John said to type it, save it, and do it again.
