Last walk of the night
We had a roofer to come by to give us an estimate, but he couldn't give us a definite time. So John ran in the neighborhood and when he got back I rode my bike to Weaver Park to exercise, keeping close by.
It was chilly on the way, but it warmed up to 75 by the time I finished.
Beautiful day
We took Toby to the community center after lunch for a walk in the shade.
The city workers have removed the beehive and sealed up the former home. There were a few straggler bees flying around wondering what happened.
Our lawn service came today and spread top soil in a couple of places. The picture above is where the orange tree was that John dug up. Now it's all level.
They also spread some top soil around the avocado tree.
But the biggest surprise was sod they laid down, about 40 pieces they had left over from another job. They also added top soil to the bed where the schefflera was and leveled it out.
New sod
I set the sprinklers to water the new sod. So far, our old irrigation system is hanging in there.
We met with one roofing company, and have two more lined up for next week. We may contact a fourth company. It will take some time to get all of their estimates to consider. We learned that our roof will be 17 years old this February, so it's time to have it replaced. In Florida, after 15 years, your insurance company can force you to have an inspection or else have you re-roof. If you have it inspected, the inspector must certify it for at least 5 years or else the insurance company requires you to replace it. We'd rather do it now at our initiative.

I am sooooo impressed with your lawn care service. You are sooo fortunate. Love love love the new sod AND the new soil where John dug up edgings. It looks
ReplyDeletewonderful. I would like to talk with you regarding roofing.
Forgot to say. You are fortunate re the city removing your bee nest. I paid $200.00 recently for someone to remove 2 yellow jacket nest beside our front door. UG!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the round semi circular item on your front yard in the first photo? Your home/landscape is beautiful at night with your lights on.
