Saturday

The roofers didn't come today, so I decided to repair the sprinkler heads that were inadvertently broken by the roofers. There were two that had to be dug up and rebuilt. One that I dug up because it wasn't working properly. And 6 more that needed new heads for various reasons. I made one trip to Ace and two to Home Depot to fetch parts.

This one in front of the dining room window got smashed. Someone obviously tripped over it. Roofers are always looking up, not down, when they are on the ground.

I reused some parts, used old left over parts from previous repairs, and added a couple of new parts.

I tested all of the repairs before covering them all up. Nothing is worse than digging them up twice.

Looks good.

This is a major rotating sprinkler. It got kicked and broke completely off.

I used new and old parts and the original rotator and rebuilt it.

This bush sprinkler at the intersection of the driveway and sidewalk got kicked. I had been meaning to replace the head anyway because the water pattern was too broad. Our goal it to keep water from the sprinklers away from the walls of the house because of the damage it causes.

Now, it puts out a narrow pattern.

I replaced all of the heads along the back wall of the house. Instead of using 180 degree patterns, we're now using 90 degrees.

Because they are spaced so closely together, the 90 degree pattern covers the bed without getting water on the house. This change should make the paint last longer once we get to this side of the house.

This pop up sprinkler by the A/C was not putting out water properly. I dug it up, re-taped the joints and replaced the head.

Now, it puts out a good pattern without leaking.

We're going to put out our 4 foot tall orange stakes around the vulnerable sprinklers when the roofers return. We hope that will keep the roofers from tripping over them.

We took a break at lunch to look at this $899,000 house that was flipped a couple of streets over. It's very modern with a distinctive vibe.
