Tuesday

We were on our way to the new Aldi's that opened up about 3 miles from us when we got a call from our roofers that they are coming tomorrow (Wednesday) to remove our shingles and that the new metal roof will be delivered on Thursday and set in the driveway ready for installation. We were hoping that we would have until Monday to get ready. So we got busy painting as soon as we returned. Aldi's was a bit overwhelming. It's much larger than TJs. The prices were lower though. Fewer employees, much more efficient. We will try it again.

We did two days work in one day: we primed the north wall, upper and lower walls. We painted the trim on the upper overhang and the attic vent with Chantilly Lace for the second coat.

Everything else got primed for the second time; the first priming was just for the damaged sections. It was 66 degrees and partly sunny, pretty good weather for painting.

We cut in the primer to get an even finish.

By the time we finished with the primer and had lunch, it was time to paint Swiss Chalet.

We're not sure if they will begin installing the metal roof on Thursday or just deliver it.

With our limited amount of time, we concentrated on the upper triangle. We painted and cut in with one coat.

We hope that once they remove the shingles tomorrow, we'll have enough daylight to paint the second coat of Swiss Chalet on the upper triangle. If we can do that before they install the metal roof, we won't have to worry about dripping paint on the skirt of the new roof.

  1. Both of you take adjustments so well. Hopefully Thursday will be just the roofing delivery. For us that is what happened. Also for us, they draped the house all around. I'll send photos. Also been meaning to say if you have anything stored in the attic you may want to consider covering it. The pounding on the roof installation really caused small debris/dust in the attic. Also, the noise might affect Toby. Lots of banging will happen which is a little noisy. We look forward to your report on roofing. Glad you liked Aldi's. Ellen trades there all the time. She works in Burlington so it is convenient for her. Good luck on all you have going on.
