The morning causeway walk was overcast, but mild (64 degrees). Wind was 1 mph. John took this picture of a boat in the sound. You can see how calm the water is.
Nevertheless, there were several sailboats out.
We took Toby to daycare this morning and noticed that the walls in the lobby had been stripped of decor and primed for painting. That should have been our clue. When we picked him up, we were told that the business had been sold to a corporation, Dogtopia of Phoenix Arizona, as a franchise. Rates are going up, of course. The new corporate owners are bringing in cameras and adding another playroom (the worker’s former break room, John surmised). The employees will remain we were told.
We’ve scheduled a tour at Precious Pets on Tuesday to consider moving to a new daycare that is privately and locally owned. We’ll see. We may end up staying, but their pricing strategy is geared towards all-day stays and we don’t need that.
It got up to 73 degrees with a little sun but not much. I had to sit outside to feel warm because the house was so cold. No solar heat gain today.
We’re girding ourselves for the next three days of cold: 60/54/61 for the highs and 47/43/39 for the lows.
In preparation, John made a pot of vegetable soup.
I like to include a picture of Toby in every blog, but this is all I’ve got. He’s under the blanket fast asleep. He’s had a big day.
